Accountable Kids

We were constantly nagging our kids to pick up their things, clean their rooms, get dressed, brush their teeth, etc... It was very irritating to be saying the same things over and over again. It was frustrating to have to repeat myself numerous times and nag to get things done. Not anymore!!

We found the Accountable Kids Program http://www.accountablekids.com. We are teaching our kids to be accountable one step at a time. It teaches them empowerment, accountability, failure in a positive light, values, integrity, and morals. Accountable Kids encourages positive behaviors by eliminating negative behaviors. It uses tickets as reminder cards, special date cards, privilege pass, best behavior cards, extra chores for money cards. It allows instant results while also working towards future rewards.

It has already empowered my kids to do more things around the house and has given me the ability to let them. They have learned that they have a place in the family and that there are certain things that they have to do to help the family function. It is working wonders with our kids. They are earning tickets to participate in activities and get special privileges. They have already earned their special date. It is fun to see them get excited and want to do their activities. My son cried the first time that I took a ticket for bad behavior. We highly recommend that everyone with kids use this program. You won't be disappointed!! It helps our kids and us to be more accountable.

Spring is Here!

The weather has been beautiful the last few days. I feel like spring is actually around the corner. I am sure that it will get cold again because I am transitioning our clothing from winter to spring. I can't believe all of the laundry that I have to do. Augh!

We have so many clothes. I can't believe all the stuff!! My house currently looks like a bomb went off in the girls rooms, hall, laundry room, and my room. Hopefully, I can get it all cleaned up tomorrow.

Our Cultural Experience

We decided to put some culture into our kids lives by attending a Lexington Philharmonic production of Peter and the Wolf. We left early so that we would be able to check-in at the appropriate time. When we got to our destination, it seemed deserted. I thought it was strange, but we went ahead and paid a parking meter got out and went into the the building. It turns out that we were at their office building and not where the production was going to be.

We had 10 minutes to get to our destination with heavy traffic and construction to hold us up. We finally got to the show and missed the introductions. It lasted a little over 30 minutes, and we missed the first 15 minutes when they explained the characters and the instruments that went with them. Oh, well. It is the story of my life to rush and hurry only to still manage to be late.

Doctor Update

I am so excited. We decided to see if we could see a genetics doctor sooner than the end of May. We are currently waiting to get an appointment scheduled with University of Tennessee Genetics Center. It appears that it is really big. I am excited about the fact that they have a center dedicated just to genetics!!

Sunny Day

It was a beautiful day today. The kids were able to play outside while I was able to clean the house. It was nice to feel like I did get somethings done. It was nice to not have to go anywhere today. Basketball is over, but soccer will start in a few more weeks.

I have been reading the Twilight Saga Series and just don't have enough time to read. They are really good. I am not quite sure how I got sucked up into the books, but I have.

Tonight for movie night, we watched My Dog Skip. It is such a cute movie. It makes me cry everytime that I watch it. It also makes me realize how quickly childhood ends.

We received our Accountable Kids yesterday and are trying to organize everything. It is going to be really good. The kids are so excited to start. We told them that we would get everything organized and start on Monday.

Bowe went out to run errands today and bought me a dress and shirt. It was so nice of him. The shirt is really cute the dress wasn't me. Oh, well. It is the thought that counts.

Anna's Eye Doctor Appointment

We celebrated Bowe's b-day yesterday. We were able to go out to lunch and then ran to different doctor appointments with the kids. Anna's appointment lasted almost 3 hours. It was a long day for her. Thankfully, her eyes are healthy right now. I hope that they stay that way. We still won't know if she has NF for awhile or if it will affect her eyes. It has been a frustrating process. For one thing it takes way to long to get a doctor's appointment. I wish that we could get answers sooner than later.

Making a Change

I feel like I am constantly telling my kids to do things that they should do all the time without me having to tell them. I have turned into a nag. I have talked with some friends and am going to try to use the Accountable Kids program (http://www.accountablekids.com/products.aspx). I am very excited. I ordered it tonight and can't wait to implement it.

Will We Ever Sleep Again?!

The hardest part of having three little ones and a newborn is the lack of sleep. I wonder every day if I will ever get a good nights sleep again. Anna has a cold so she is sleeping even worse than usual. She wakes up and can't breathe, coughs, and then squeals/screams. I think that she woke up every two hours. Then to make matters worse Olivia and Caleb woke us up. Caleb said the wind woke him up. We told him that he must be hearing things because it wasn't even windy. Olivia woke us up because we aren't even sure why. What in the world!! Does anyone sleep around here? Then to make matters worse someone (Ella- I am sure) played with my alarm clock, and it went off at 3:15 in the morning! It took me a few minutes to figure out what it was. Maybe the next night will be better!
